Men’s Liposuction: A Growing Trend for Achieving a Six-Pack
Men’s liposuction, which allows individuals to achieve a six-pack without extensive gym workouts and sacrifices, is becoming increasingly popular. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), this method is gaining traction among men who struggle to eliminate stubborn abdominal fat through exercise alone.
High-Definition Liposuction
Men’s liposuction, also known as high-definition liposuction, is a new approach to body contouring. This method involves fat removal similar to traditional liposuction but additionally sculpts the abdominal muscle lines, creating the illusion of defined muscles. Dr. Josef Hadeed, a plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills and Miami, described this procedure in an interview with Fox News Digital.
“It’s like creating a six-pack and giving someone a more athletic, toned physique. Traditional liposuction cannot achieve this effect,” he stated.
While traditional liposuction focuses solely on fat removal, high-definition liposuction is more precise, taking into account anatomical specifics.
“We remove a bit more fat from the vertical line above the navel and from the horizontal lines to create the illusion of a six-pack,” he added.
Rising Trend of Men’s Liposuction
The ASPS reports an increase in the number of men undergoing this procedure.
“I am definitely seeing a rise in inquiries about high-definition liposuction among men,” said Dr. Joubin Gabbay, a member of ASPS.
Men are increasingly opting for cosmetic surgery, and this phenomenon is gaining greater social acceptance.
“Men are seeking alternative ways to achieve an athletic physique for two main reasons,” Dr. Gabbay explained. “Firstly, cosmetic surgery among men is becoming more socially acceptable. Secondly, many have already tried conventional methods, such as diet and exercise, and have been unsuccessful.”
The ASPS’s 2022 report indicates that since 2019, the number of cosmetic procedures among men has increased by 207%. Men are pursuing a youthful appearance to maintain vitality in their careers.
Social media influencers and celebrities have brought attention to male cosmetic surgery, leading to a growing willingness among men to undergo such procedures. These types of surgeries are already very popular in Brazil and other South American countries. This trend is slowly making its way to the United States and is likely to reach Europe and Poland soon.
The Burden of Idealism and Natural Appeal
Surgeons warn that patients should have realistic expectations regarding surgery. Not everyone will look like social media influencers, and no doctor can make someone resemble the proverbial Ken doll.
The rising popularity of high-definition liposuction may influence societal perceptions, similar to how cosmetic surgery for women has evolved. It is possible that soon our city streets will be filled with perfectly built men—ideal yet very similar to one another. In such a reality, natural appearance may become the new benchmark for originality and avant-garde. Beauty pageants for men may evolve to mirror those for women, assessing the skill of surgeons rather than the appearance of participants. The question remains whether such contests and their participants will still capture public interest in a world filled with artificial beauty.
